A 19-year-old Watertown man was arrested Friday night on multiple charges stemming from an alleged domestic incident earlier that night.
John A. Ellsworth, 19, of 124 N. Hamilton St., is accused of punching Marrissa J. Ruttan, 20, same address, in the left side of her torso about 6:30 p.m., as well as grabbing and striking her head against a wall. Police said she suffered substantial pain that required hospital attention.
Mr. Ellsworth also is alleged to have broken a Samsung flat screen TV valued at $400. Police said Ms. Ruttans 11-year-old sister witnessed the incident and when she asked if she should call for help with a cellphone, Mr. Ellsworth damaged the phone.
He was arrested at the residence at 10:43 p.m. and charged with third-degree criminal mischief, a class E felony; third-degree assault, endangering the welfare of a child and fourth-degree criminal mischief.
He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held on $5,000 cash bail. He is to appear in City Court to answer the charges.
