Applications are now available for health career scholarships sponsored by the Alliance with the Medical Society of Jefferson County.
The scholarships are for residents pursuing careers in accredited health-related fields such as nursing, pharmacy and physical or occupational therapy. Medical students are eligible for the scholarships, but pre-med students are not.
Awards are made on the basis of academic success, financial need, a personal essay and two references. Previous winners are encouraged to reapply. Students should contact their guidance counselors for application forms.
For more information, call Hildegard Willis at 785-5539.
The application deadline is April 19.
Last year, 12 students were awarded $1,000 each.
