Four people, including two young children, remained in a Syracuse hospital Wednesday afternoon, suffering from serious injuries suffered in a head-on crash about 7:40 p.m. Monday on Route 11 in the town of Pamelia.

State police said Richard L. Gesell, 44, Watertown, was driving north on Route 11 in a 2011 Dodge pickup truck when he failed to keep right and his truck entered the southbound lane. His truck struck a 2002 Dodge pickup truck driven by Danielle M. Walker, 26, LeRay Street.

Ms. Walker was flown by helicopter to Upstate Medical University, Syracuse. She was listed Tuesday evening in critical condition with head trauma. On Wednesday, her condition was upgraded to fair.

Four passengers, including two toddlers and a baby, were in her vehicle. They are:

n Jordan Law, 24, a front-seat passenger, is in fair condition. He suffered a fractured leg.

n Keegan Law, 2, suffered a fractured neck and collarbone. He is listed in fair condition.

n Jayce Law, 3 months is listed in good condition, suffering from a fractured leg and a head injury.

n Lilian Walker, 3, suffered no injuries.

The children were in car seats in the back seat of the pickup, state police said. Mr. Gesell was treated at Samaritan Medical Center and later released.

State police continue to investigate the cause of the crash but said alcohol was not a factor.
