CANTON — Matt Carey scored the tying goal early in the third period and St. Lawrence University went on to record a 2-2 draw with Harvard in an ECAC Hockey game on Saturday night at Appleton Arena.

Greg Carey also scored a power-play goal for the Saints (11-5-4, 5-9-4) and goalie Matt Weninger made 20 saves.

With the point, St. Lawrence avoided being swept over the weekend and recorded its fourth tie in four overtimes this season — all in league play.

The Saints also earned just their third point over their past 10 home games (1-8-1). St. Lawrence is 4-9-1 on home this season and 7-6-3 in road games.

Goalie Steve Michalek made 39 saves for Harvard (9-12-4, 5-9-4), which defeated Clarkson, 1-0, in overtime on Friday night.

Victor Newell and Brian Hart each scored for the Crimson.

Both teams salvaged a point in the chase for playoff positioning. With two weeks left in the regular season, both trail eighth-place Brown by a point. The Bears upset Quinnipiac, 4-2 earlier in the day.

St. Lawrence owns the tiebreaker over Harvard (1-0-1).

The Saints play at RPI and Union next Friday and Saturday at 7 p.m.
