Gene D. Rivers III, 27, of 1000 Huntington St., Apt 121, was arrested early Friday after city police said he came into physical contact with a woman who holds an order of protection against him.

Police said Mr. Rivers approached the protected party, Stacy R. Shute, of 1708 Ohio St., and began walking hand in hand with her near her residence. Ms. Shute had a stay-away order of protection issued out of City Court.

He was arrested at 1:26 a.m. Friday on the 200 block of Monroe Avenue and charged with second-degree criminal contempt. He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and held on $5,000 bail pending an appearance in City Court.
