POTSDAM - A Potsdam Central school bus with 10 elementary students on board was involved in a motor vehicle accident shortly after 8 a.m. Monday.
Potsdam Central School District Superintendent Patrick H. Brady said the accident occurred at approximately 8:10 a.m. at the corner of the Root and Parmenter roads.
The bus was making a left hand turn onto Parmenter Road when it struck the back left corner of a vehicle traveling east toward Hannawa Falls, he said.
Mr. Brady said bus 31 was driven by Charlene Randall, who was ticketed by New York State Police for failure to yield the right of way at a stop sign.
Troopers said Ms. Randall is 57 and resides on county Route 58 in Colton. The truck she struck was operated by Joshua Bartlett, 40, of Chestnut St., Potsdam.
Mr. Brady said neither the bus driver or any students were injured, although precuationary measures were taken.
There were no injuries reported, but for precautionary purposes students were transported to the elementary school for observation by the school nurses, he said. Parents were notified and students remained in school.
Mr. Brady said the bus was not damaged, and although the truck did experience some damage to its back quarter panel, both vehicles were driven from the scene.
