While the Denver Broncos and Seattle Seahawks may not have the most fans in Northern New York, they certainly have passionate ones.
Jacklyn Jorgensen has been a lifelong Broncos fan and is excited to see her hometown team play. Jorgensen, an 18-year-old student at Immaculate Heart Central, moved here with her family from the Denver suburb of Bloomfield in 2011 and said orange and blue runs in my blood. Jorgensen is excited for todays game.
I have been waiting for this moment all of my life, she said. Im more excited than I ever have been for anything.
Jorgensen added, Being a die-hard fan, this is the best thing that could happen.
While she may not live in Colorado anymore, the transplanted fans love for her team has even spread to her pet as she has a dog named Tebow. She also has some interesting superstitions for game day.
I have my Bronco apparel on with my Broncos hologram cup in hand, Jorgensen said. Im very superstitious and have to wear my hair the same way for every game if we are on a winning streak, along with the same jersey and pants.
Jorgensen and her family had season tickets to the Broncos prior to their move, and she plans to attend every home game next season when she attends college in the Denver area.
She lists her all-time favorite Broncos players as running back Knowshon Moreno and wide receiver Eric Decker, and predicts that the Broncos will pull out a close 27-20 victory.
While Jayson St. Croix may not be a native Washingtonian, his love for the Seahawks rivals that of anyone from Seattle. The 36-year old math teacher at Case Middle School has been a fan of the team since Pop Warner.
Said St. Croix, I liked watching them play, I like their name and like the old uniform colors with the gray in them.
He used to wear the number 80 in football because of his favorite player Steve Largent. Some of his other favorite players include prominent 1980s players Curt Warner and Dave Krieg.
St. Croix notes that there are not a lot of Seahawk fans in the area, but he enjoys rooting for the team.
He said: Its nice to root for someone not so mainstream.
His classroom is filled with Seahawks memorabilia such as a giant team flag, posters and garbage can. He said this is the year that he can be proud to have those items. St. Croix also has a special tradition he has on Fridays.
I wear my Seahawks polo every casual Friday, St. Croix said.
St. Croix last made it to a Seahawks game when he attended the 2008 season opener against the Buffalo Bills at Ralph Wilson Stadium when his wife got him tickets to the game.
He predicts a close game with Seattle coming out on top, 28-24.
I like our defense over their offense, St. Croix said. But its hard to root against Peyton Manning.
