GOUVERNEUR The Town Council probably will fill the vacancy caused by the death of board member William E. Mashaw, but not immediately.
Were not going to rush into it, Supervisor Robert R. Ritchie said.
The board is expected to talk about the vacancy at its meeting Feb. 11.
Mr. Ritchie said he expects to make an appointment at some point because Mr. Mashaw, who died Sunday, had two years left on his term.
Two years is a long time to go with four guys, he said.
Anyone appointed who wanted to continue in the position would have to run in November for the unexpired term and then again in 2016 for the regular four-year term.
