A Watertown woman was sentenced Thursday in Jefferson County Court to up to four years in state prison after admitting that she violated terms of her Drug Court contract.

Nichole M. Bell, 22, whose last known address was 140 High St., Apt. 9, was sentenced to two to four years for not successfully completing the substance abuse rehabilitation program designed to serve as an alternative to incarceration. She also was ordered to pay $1,464 in restitution.

She was referred to the program Sept. 26 after pleading guilty to second-degree criminal possession of a forged instrument, admitting that in November 2012 she possessed a check belonging to Matthew Paul that had the amount payable changed from $60 to $600 and deposited it at a Watertown bank. Information about what led to the violation was not available from the court.

She was sentenced as a second-felony offender, having been convicted in July 2012 of third-degree robbery. In that matter, she admitted that in May 2012 she forcibly stole merchandise from Kmart, 21110 Pioneer Plaza. Police said at the time that an employee was injured in an attempt to prevent the shoplifting.

She was sentenced on the robbery count to five years’ probation in September 2012, but admitted violating supervision in January 2013. She subsequently was sentenced to nine months in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
