MORRISTOWN The DNA of a prison inmate from Morristown has allegedly linked him to a second burglary in the town.
State police on Monday charged Danny J. Mashaw, 50, of 603 Chapman St., with felony third-degree burglary.
In October, the state police forensic lab in Albany contacted local troopers to notify them that Mr. Mashaws DNA matched that of a sample they took from the scene of a burglary at the 300 Chapman St. medical office of Dr. David Dunn on June 14, 2012.
Police interviewed Mr. Mashaw in December at the Groveland Correctional Facility in Livingston County, where he is serving 15 to 45 months for a March 31 burglary at the Parkway Express store on Route 37. Police allege that during the interview Mr. Mashaw confessed to stealing an undisclosed amount of money from Dr. Dunns office.
The St. Lawrence County District Attorneys Office issed an order to produce Mr. Mashaw, and he was brought to Morristown Town Court for arraignment. He was returned to Groveland Correctional with bail set at $10,000 cash or $20,000 bond.
