Brooke Spaulding and her Copenhagen girls basketball teammates sure experienced a hectic schedule.

The Golden Knights played three games in four days and went on to post a trio of victories in the Frontier League.

Spaulding, who averaged 15.3 points scored per game this week, has been voted as the Times Week’s Elite with 55 votes — garnering 56 percent of the vote.

The junior guard bested Lowville boys basketball guard Kyle Malik and South Jefferson girls basketball guard Austin Stevens, who finished at 27 and 7 percent, respectively.

Copenhagen beat “D” Division foes LaFargeville on Tuesday and Sackets Harbor on Thursday before rallying for a win over Thousand Islands the next night.

“It was a long week,” said Copenhagen coach Natalie Scott, “and two of them were two of the longer trips that we make. We put an exclamation point on it with a tough game against TI. ... And Brooke was a big part of our success this week.”

Spaulding began her week by scoring 16 points in a 56-26 victory over the Red Knights along with eight rebounds, four assists and three steals and produced 16 points, eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in a 55-35 triumph against the Patriots.

“It was a very busy week,” Spaulding said. “But I think even though it was busy and we didn’t get that much of a break, we still didn’t show our tiredness and played well. We still came into every game like we always do and played our hardest.”

She generated 11 points and totaled six rebounds, two assists and three steals as the Golden Knights edged the Vikings, 52-51, on Friday in a meeting of division leaders.

“It was very exciting,” Spaulding said of the win over Thousand Islands. “We really came together as a team to play well.”

Spaulding is averaging 12.8 points a game for the Golden Knights (11-2), who are a perfect 10-0 in league play with two games left.

“Brooke is just a great leader,” Scott said. “She leads on offense, but she also leads on defense, too. So not only does she lead our offense in points, in 3-pointers and shots made, she also controls the pace of our offense. But she’s a great defender as well.”

Week’s Elite totals: Brooke Spaulding, Copenhagen 55 votes; Kyle Malik, Lowville 26; Austin Stevens, South Jefferson 7; Madison Compton, Beaver River 5, Jake Renzi, IHC 5.

(Voting for the Week’s Elite begins at 6 p.m. Saturday on the sports page at watertowndailytimes.com)
