ADAMS State Sen. Patricia A. Ritchie, R-Heuvelton, will host an event to recognize Adams residents who helped fellow community members and travelers during the lake-effect snowstorm that left parts of Interstate 81 closed in early January.
People Helping People: A Celebration of Adams, NY will be held from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 8 at the Adams firehouse, 63 N. Main St.
The event is free and open to all members of the Adams community.
Whether they opened their homes to motorists who couldnt travel on I-81 or simply checked on an elderly neighbor, their actions are a true example of what makes the north country such a special place to live and this event is a small way for me to say thank you to the community for their generosity, Sen. Ritchie said in a news release.
Those interested in attending can RSVP at www.ritchie.nysenate.gov. Sen. Ritchie is also asking people to submit their snowstorm stories and pictures, which will be featured at the event.
