Watertown, New York- Carol S. Roney, 62, Watertown, passed beyond all worry and care January 21, 2014. Carol was born June 2, 1951 in Salzburg, Austria. She was the daughter of Richard and Herlinde LaRouech. Growing up in an Army family she had an opportunity for travel in the United States, Germany and Austria before her father retired to Massena, NY. Carol graduated from Massena High School in 1969 and graduated Cum Laude from SUNY Potsdam in 1973 with a degree in Sociology.

She married Lee A. Roney August 18, 1973. She worked briefly at Binghamton Children’s Home before being hired in 1974 by St. Lawrence Co. Department of Social Services when the Albany Registry was started to combat child abuse and neglect. In 1984 she left as a supervisor to join the NYS Department of Corrections as a counselor. She retired in 2006.

Carol was extremely hard working and dedicated to whatever job she took. She was a “shirt off the back” friend with energy and enthusiasm. As a child she enjoyed spending time in the kitchen with her mother learning to bake wonderful Austrian Christmas cookies which later in life, so many friends, co-workers and family came to expect and enjoy. In the last 15 years she became an expert dog-trainer who won 5 Masters Agility Champion titles with her Border Terriers; Falcon and Summer. They also won titles in Earthdog and Summer received the Versatility Excellent Award.

She is survived by her husband Lee Roney and son Hunter K. Roney. Predeceased by her Father, Richard D. LaRouech and Mother Herlinde Karrer LaRouech. She is also survived by her Sister, Jenny LaRouech of Potsdam; her Brother Raymond LaRouech of East Aurora; sister-in-law, Eileen LaRouech and her nephews, Richard and Jack LaRouech (all of East Aurora). She is also survived by aunts, uncles, and cousins in the United States and family Karrer in Austria.

She was also predeceased by two brothers, Richard D. LaRouech, Jr. and Robert P, LaRouech.

Calling hours will be 2-4 and 6-8, Saturday, January 25th, at Cleveland Funeral Home Inc., Watertown, NY. A Celebration of life will be held in the spring.
