MASSENA - The Massena Central wrestling team opened with five straight pins and never looked back in posting a 67-12 NAC decision at home over Canton on Wednesday.

The Raiders scored a total of seven pins and gained three forfeit en route to raising their NAC record to 5-1. Touching their opponent’s shoulders to the mat were; Skyler Cameron at 120 pounds, Alex Denney at 126, Michael Brown at 132, Gavin Perrine at 138, Austin Amo at 145, Nolan Terrance at 285 and Brian Plourde at 113.

Nathan Marshall, one of seven Massena seniors honored before the final home meet of their careers, reached a personal milestone when he gained a 14-2 decision over Ryan Brown for his 100th win.

Also scoring wins for the Raiders were Cameron Tarbell, who outlasted Jared Cascanette 9-8 at 170 pounds, along with Dan Elman (152), Hunter Perrine (160) and Jeremy Malone (195), who drew forfeits.

The Golden Bears (1-4) got pins from Alen Clement at 182 pounds and Thomas Lumbard at 220.

Neither team sent a wrestler to the mat at 99 pounds.

The other Raiders who competed in their final home meet on Wednesday were Elman, Malone, Tarbell, Dakota Bernard, Alex Romeo and Noah Serabian. Vocalist Lauren Cook, who sang the National Anthem at all home meets was also honored. The Raiders also wore pink socks to raise awareness for breat cancer.

The Massena grapplers are slated to head to Ogdensburg this evening to take on OFA starting at 6 p.m. OFA’s scheduled meet at home against Franklin Academy on Wednesday was postponed.
