The New York State Police Investigators Association has endorsed Jefferson County sheriff candidate Colleen M. ONeill, a 28-year veteran of the state police and former supervisor of the Alexandria Bay Bureau of Criminal Investigation unit.
The letter from association President Jeffrey J. Kayser and Troop D delegate Mark Dembrow stated, in part, The many years of dedicated service that you have provided to the citizens of the entire state of New York and Jefferson County in particular, have forged a reputation with law enforcement personnel that is second to none.
I am humbled and proud to receive the endorsement of NYSPIA, Ms. ONeill said. I will continue to earn the confidence they have in me now and as the next sheriff of Jefferson County.
Ms. ONeill is running for the office as a Democrat. Also running as a Democrat for the position is Jefferson County Undersheriff Paul W. Trudeau. John R. Bocciolatt, a Watertown native and retired Portland, Ore., city police detective sergeant, is running for sheriff as a Republican.
