Morristown survives Hermon-DeKalb in overtime

MORRISTOWN - Hermon-DeKalb created a lot of headaches for Morristown on Friday evening but Morristown survived 44-39 in overtime in NAC West Division Basketball play to stay two games back of unbeaten Lisbon (8-0) in the standings at 6-2 (7-2 overall).

“Hermon-DeKalb just played scrappy and they’ve improved a lot,” said Morristown coach George Beaulieu.

“We made some mistakes tonight but Tyler Delosh came through for us with two big overtime baskets after Devin Dulmage fouled out. We also had a solid effort at the foulline.”

Delosh scored all four his points in overtime and grabbed three rebounds for Morristown which outscored H-D 7-2 in the extra frame.

Jacob Fox, who made seven of nine free throws for his seven points, hit two in overtime and posted three boards while Dulmage scored six of his 10 points in the third quarter and added six boards. Ryan Vollmer helped Morristown to a 8-4 first quarter start with five of his 10 points and had three boards, three assists and three steals. Tristen Gilmour did a good job on the boards with five and scored four points and Zach Kanaly tallied seven boards and scored four points. Jake VanArnam grabbed 10 rebounds.

H-D (2-11, 1-8 NAC), which rallied from a 18-11 halftime deficit, received 13 points from Cody Merritt and 10 from Zach Robinson. Reilly O’Donnell added nine and Jaron Robinson chipped in six.

Hammond 50, Clifton-Fine 35: Payton Frisina generated 19 points and Zech Cunningham added 13 leading the Red Devils (4-7, 3-6 NAC West). Brock Tulley and Nick Jewett each added eight for the winners who gradually pulled away from 16-6 first quarter lead.

Chase Koster scored 11 and Austin Locke netted nine points leading Clifton-Fine (0-10, 0-8 NAC West). Carl Provost added eight while Jake Folsom chipped in five.

Edwards-Knox 71, Harrisville 42: Kaden Dandrow, who recorded his 1001 point with a three pointer in the second quarter with 2:10 left on Tuesday evening against Hammond, erupted for 32 points with four threes against the Pirates to stay two games back at 6-2 NAC West (7-4 overall).

Jeremiah Randall added 15 while Abe White scored eight. JV callup played Jake Fenlong played very well in his varsity debut with six points. Tim Fowler and Branden Best each scored 13 points for Harrisville (6-5, 4-7 NAC West) and Chris Sullivan added 11.
