SOUTH COLTON — Higley Flow State Park officials have reopened the park’s main roads, camping loop roads and Overlook Trail after volunteers spent weeks clearing debris from the ice storm last month.

The roads and trails had been closed because of trees, branches and brush that fell and bent during the storm, Kevin A. Kieff, regional director for the state Office of Parks, Recreation and Historic Preservation, said in a news release.

Community volunteers and members of the Friends of Higley Flow went to work as early as Christmas Eve, clearing and preparing the roads for park groomers.

The park is now open from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily and Higley Lodge, which was built over the summer, also will be open from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.
