CANTON — A New York City man has been sentenced in St. Lawrence County Court to six years in state prison for a March shooting in Massena.

Devian J. Fletcher, 19, was sentenced Tuesday by Judge Jerome J. Richards for second-degree attempted criminal possession of a weapon.

Mr. Fletcher shot a .22 caliber pistol at a vehicle carrying Patrick R. Lloyd and Miranda M. Green in Massena on March 27. Ms. Green, who was pregnant at the time, was cut by flying glass. Hers was the only reported injury.

Investigators had previously said that Mr. Lloyd and Mr. Fletcher were New York City men who moved to the area and became rivals in Massena’s growing drug trade.

Mr. Fletcher told police that Mr. Lloyd had threatened to kill him, and that the shooting also was in response to Mr. Lloyd’s and Ms. Green’s attempted kidnapping of Catherine A. Berry, then 17, of 66 Liberty Ave., who Mr. Fletcher said was a friend.

In addition to his prison sentence, Mr. Fletcher was also sentenced to three years of post-release supervision and ordered to pay $375 in court fines, fees and surcharges.

In other court action Tuesday:

Christopher A. Lopez, 23, of Union City, N.J., pleaded guilty to felony third-degree attempted criminal possession of a controlled substance.

Mr. Lopez was arrested by the St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force on Oct. 9 along with Christopher J. Sharp, 23, of 1 Ann St., Norfolk; Allen J. Oshier, 30, of 94 Lincoln Ave., Waddington; and Christopher J. Hughes, 32, of 81 Grantville Road, Norfolk.

The arrest followed a traffic stop on Route 37 in the town of Louisville where a sheriff’s department K-9 unit and deputies said a subsequent free-air sniff of the vehicle’s exterior led to the discovery of 21 packets of heroin.

Mr. Lopez is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10.

Joseph J. Schneller, 33, of 145 Taylor Road, Canton, pleaded guilty to felony aggravated driving while intoxicated.

Mr. Schneller had a 0.23 percent blood alcohol content while driving on Aug. 30 on Main Street in Potsdam. He was previously convicted of misdemeanor DWI in Colton Town Court on May 10, 2010.

Mr. Schneller is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10.

Fernando Johnson, 36, Syracuse, pleaded guilty to third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony.

On March 12, in the city of Ogdensburg, Mr. Johnson was found in possession of cocaine and ecstasy.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10.

Christopher Mitchell, 41, of 774 County Route 53, Brasher Falls, pleaded guilty to a felony charge of DWI.

Mr. Mitchell had a 0.16 percent blood alcohol content while operating a motorcycle July 27 on Route 11C in the town of Lawrence. He previously was convicted of misdemeanor DWI on May 20, 2008, in Brasher Town Court.

He is scheduled to be sentenced on March 10.
