Resiliency was the order of the evening at the Edgar Newell Memorial Golden Dome rink on Monday night as OFA hosted Potsdam in an NAC interdivisional makeup game.
Both teams put together determined comebacks with Josh Locey of Potsdam scoring the first two and the last two goals of the game as the Sandstoners (5-4-0, 3-1 NAC) claimed a 4-3 victory. We showed resiliency after falling behind 2-0 and Jared Barr gave an offensive spark with two goals in the second period. David Middlemiss had a nice defensive game and Matt Sholette and Jordan Macauley are coming along well, said OFA Coach Jon Frederick who will have his team at home on Friday and Saturday to defend the championship of the Brian Wade Jr. Memorial Tournament.
But right now we have to eliminate some mistakes that we are repeating. We had too many turnovers tonight and on defense we didnt consistently tie up the hands of their attackers.
Locey gave Potsdam a 2-0 lead scoring 2:46 into the game from Corson Green and Logan Ford, who passed out two and three assists on the night, and the netting a power play goal at 1:21 from Ford and Keenan OGorman.
Jared Barr started a burst of three goals in 6:11 for the Devils by taking pass from Jon Tayler, and one-timing his own rebound out of the air after Potsdam keeper Jacob Crary made a nice save. Tayler followed just 29 seconds later with a quick shot off assists from Burke Comeau and Zach Barr.
The Devils gained their only lead of the night at 9:17 as Jared Barr netted a power play tally set up by Zach Barrs second assist.
Locey pulled the Stoners even with one minute remaining in the middle stanza from Ford and then netted the game-winner 2:29 into the second period with a shot through traffic from Green. Crary (25 saves) handed 12 shots and Dave Prudhomme (25 saves) stopped 10 in the second period.
