EVANS MILLS—State police charged Gregory A. Hess, 33, of 26626 Route 16, with first-degree burglary after he was accused of unlawfully entering an Evans Mills residence and causing minor injuries to the occupant.

According to police, Mr. Hess broke into the residence at 10:10 p.m. Saturday and hit the occupant, Michael Young. Police said Mr. Young refused medical treatment and his injuries are not known at this time.

Because of the injuries caused, Mr. Hess was charged with first-degree burglary at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at the state police barracks in Pamelia. He was taken to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building, Watertown, and held on $10,000 bail pending arraignment in LeRay Town Court.
