CANTON — Ryan Moffitt redirected a shot from the point by Maddox Merry into the back of the net for a power-play goal 9 minutes, 32 seconds into the game, helping the Massena boys hockey team to a 1-0 win over Canton in an Northern Athletic Conference Division I contest on Wednesday night.

Devin Page also assisted on the game-winner while senior Connor Paquin handled the 15 shots for Massena (7-3 overall, 6-0 division).

Sophomore Jon Stone made 30 saves, backstopping Canton (4-5, 2-1).

NORWOOD-NORFOLK 3, ST. LAWRENCE 2

Norwood-Norfolk (5-1, 4-1) twice rallied from one-goal deficits to deny the Larries in a Division II game in Brasher Falls.

SLC opened the scoring when Lukas Arquiett one-timed a centering pass from Kody Kocsis into the back of the net from the right slot for a power-play goal at the 12:06 mark of the first period. Hadyn St. Hilaire also earned an assist for the Larries (3-4, 2-3).

The Flyers got their first equalizer 2:19 into the second period when Austin Cousineau finished off a play set up by Kaden Pickering and Shane Fobare. The Larries regained the lead at 12:26 of the middle frame when Luke Peets converted from Arquiett and Joe DiMatteo.

Norwood-Norfolk pulled even as Jeff Mott struck just 15 seconds later from Cousineau and Pickering. The teams went into the second intermission knotted at 2-2.

The Flyers completed their comeback 3:50 into the third when Zeb Brown converted on a centering pass from Pickering. Cousineau picked up his second assist on the game-winner.

Brandon Richards turned aside 25 shots for the win, while Nate Burnett tallied 31 saves for the Larries (3-5, 1-3).

OFA 3, TUPPER LAKE 2 (OT)

Ogdensburg Free Academy (5-5, 4-3) built a 2-0 lead in the first period before the Lumberjacks rallied to force overtime in a Division II contest in Tupper Lake.

Austin Morley-Sloan scored from Zach Barr and Burke Comeau 4:30 into the game before Austin Putman connected from Mark Morrow with 4:30 left in the first period to put OFA ahead 2-0.

Tim Fuller pulled the Lumberjacks (0-8-1, 0-6-1) to within one at 9:39 of the second period, assisted by Boyce Guerette. Then, with their goaltender pulled for the extra-skater, Elliott Fletcher’s low shot from the point found its way through a screen and into the net with 39 seconds left in regulation.

Shortly after two saves by netminder David Prudhomme in the opening minute of overtime, Nolan Rufa lifted the Blue Devils to the win at 1:10 with a hard wrist shot from the left wing.

Prudhomme finished with 29 saves, while Tupper Lake goalie Tyler Nilsson had likewise.

SALMON RIVER 4, MALONE 1

Salmon River broke a 1-1 tie with three straight goals in the third period to defeat the Huskies (2-3-1) in an interdivision game in Malone.

Salmon River (4-4-1, 2-1-0) opened the scoring 2:12 into the game when Tye Terrance converted from Tyler Sisto, but the Huskies pulled even less than two minutes later when Trevor Cooley finished off a play set up by Jake Henning and Trevor Henderson.

The Shamrocks used a quick scoring burst early in the third to take control. Terrance netted the eventual game-winner at 4:40 assisted by Chad George and Nate Smoke. Sean David made it 3-1 just over two minutes from Ronnie Boots. George then sealed the win when he struck from Tyren Boots with 2:02 left in regulation.

Aidan Comins went the distance between the pipes for the Shamrocks and turned aside 17 shots for the win. Joey Brown logged 31 saves for Malone.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

SALMON RIVER 54, GOUVERNEUR 32

Jaiden Mitchell scored 28 points as Salmon River (3-3) defeated the Wildcats in a Central Division game in Gouverneur.

Taylor Francis added 16 points for the Shamrocks and Alisha Way scored nine points to lead Gouverneur (3-5, 0-5).

WRESTLING

GOUVERNEUR 38, OFA 29

Gouverneur produced four pins in a victory over the Blue Devils (1-2) in Ogdensburg.

Jacob Beckwith (220 pounds), Mason Wing (285), Joey Love (152) and Marty Countryman (170) won by pin for the Wildcats (3-0). Tanner LaPiene (120) and Cody-Allen David (160) won by pin for the Blue Devils.
