BURLINGTON, Vt. The University of Massachusetts-Lowells mens hockey team scored a pair of power-play goals and added a tally late in the game to defeat Clarkson University, 3-1, on Sunday on the second day of the Sheraton/TD Bank Catamount Cup.
After the ninth-ranked Golden Knights (12-5-1) tied the game on Ben Sextons power-play goal 38 seconds into the third period, Scott Wilson followed with the deciding goal for the No. 10 River Hawks (13-5-0) on a power play at 14:21.
With Clarkson goalie Greg Lewis heading to the bench for an extra attacker, Evan Campbell followed with an open-net goal with 1:02 left in regulation for UMass Lowell. Goalie Doug Carr made 18 saves to post the win.
Lewis stopped 31 of 34 shots for Clarkson, which lost consecutive games for the first time this season.
