MASSENA - Mr. Heinz Philippe Seipel, 91, of North Racquette River Road, passed away early Thursday morning, December 26, 2013 at the Highland Nursing Home, where he had been a resident since June.

Heinz was born March 6, 1922 in Muelheim M, Germany, the son of the late Peter and Sophie Wiesner Seipel. He went to school in Germany, where he graduated from an engineering school in Frankfurt, Germany. Heinz served in the German military for seven years. While serving Africa, he was captured and held as prisoner of war for four years. On December 14, 1951, he married Gertrude Lutz in Frankfurt. Heinz owned and operated at building company in Germany for many years before moving to the United States in June 1979.

He is survived by his wife, Gertrude; two daughters, Ingrid Seipel of St. Peter-Ording, Germany, and Gisela Gilbert of Rigaud, Quebec; two grandchildren, Carole and Steven; and his brother, Arthur Seipel of Germany.

There will be no calling hours, a celebration of his life will be held Sunday, January 5, 2014, 1:00 PM at the Donaldson Funeral Home, Massena with Rev. Donald Manfred, officiating.
