FORT DRUM Casey Campbell, 27, of 10522 5th Armored Division Drive, Apt. 140, was arrested late Saturday night after city police said he broke into a residence, assaulted a man who lived there and then resisted arrest and attacked an officer.
According to police, Mr. Campbell entered the dwelling of Dale A. and Heather L. Bresette, 721 Lansing St., and attacked Mr. Bresette. Police said Mr. Campbell bit and punched the man, causing a laceration on his hand and bruising to his ribs. Mr. Campbell also was charged with breaking a pair of eyeglasses belonging to Mr. Bresette and valued at $100.
While city police attempted to arrest Mr. Campbell, he allegedly swung at Officer Chad Frederick, causing a contusion to his right hand and a sprain to his right thumb.
After being transported to Samaritan Medical Center for treatment of his own injuries, Mr. Campbell was arrested and charged with first-degree burglary, fourth-degree criminal mischief and third-degree assault stemming from the earlier incident, and second-degree assault and resisting arrest from the latter.
He was transported to the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building and was being held on $3,000 cash bail pending arraignment in City Court.
