ROCHESTER — Carly Mercer and Vanessa Gagnon each scored two goals to lead the Clarkson University women’s hockey team to a 6-2 win over the Rochester Institute of Technology in a nonconference game played outdoors at Frontier Field on Saturday afternoon.

Clarkson (14-4-2 overall) scored three goals in both the second and third periods to win its first women’s outdoor contest in history.

Jamie Lee Rattray and Olivia Howe also scored goals for the Golden Knights.

Kolbee McCrea scored both goals for the Tigers (9-10-1).

FRANKLIN PIERCE 3, SUNY CANTON 1

Karsyn Baker and Haylea Barbieri scored goals in the third period to lead Franklin Pierce (9-1) past the Kangaroos in a nonconference game in Winchedon, Mass.

Jessica Kistabish scored the first goal of the game for SUNY Canton (4-7-2) late in the first period.

Michaela Faia also scored for Franklin Pierce.

MEN’S BASKETBALL

NORTH COUNTRY CC 75, JCC 64

Ivan Grcic lead four double-digit scorers with 20 points as North Country CC toppled JCC in a Region 3 game at Watertown.

Clement Gibson, Matthew Gullotta and Michael Boyea each added 11 points for North Country CC (6-5).

The Cannoneers (4-6) were paced by Dustin Pond’s 14 points, Kenny Thomas’s 12 and Ryna Tomlin’s 10.

WOMEN’S BASKETBALL

CLARKSON 83, SUNY CANTON 51

Cara Manfredi scored 21 points and Ashley Loggins added 20 as Clarkson (5-3) defeated the Kangaroos in a nonconference game in Canton.

Brooke Butkovsky added 10 points and 11 rebounds for Clarkson, which took advantage of 29 SUNY Canton turnovers.

Karyss Terrance scored 14 points to pace the Kangaroos (2-6).

JCC 65, NORTH COUNTRY CC 62

Kathleen Coloney scored 15 of her game-high 22 points after the break and Alyssa Crosby added 19 points overall to power the Cannoneers (8-2, 7-2) to a Region 3 victory over North Country CC (6-3, 6-3) at Watertown.

Coloney and Crosby each added 17 rebounds for JCC, which overcame a 34-28 halftime deficit.

Reukiah Smith led North Country CC with 15 points, Emily LaPage added 12 and Tori Pennington chipped in 10.

INDOOR TRACK & FIELD

SAINTS SWEEP

Both the St. Lawrence University men’s and women’s teams won a home meet against the University of Ottawa.

SLU’s men claimed a 194 1/2-80 1/2 win, led by Scott Kasson, who won the shot put and weight throw.

The women’s team won 193-81. Carly Stine won the 400 and long jump and Kristin Linder won the weight throw and shot put for the Saints.
