Five Syracuse University football players were named to the All-Atlantic Coast Conference team on Wednesday, as selected by league’s 14 head coaches.

Senior center Macky MacPherson was chosen for the second team while Jerome Smith, Jay Bromley, Marquis Spruill and Durell Eskridge all made the third team.

MacPherson anchored an offensive line that helped the Orange average 193.8 rushing yards per game, fourth best in the ACC.

Bromley, a senior defensive tackle, tallied nine sacks and three forced fumbles. Spruill, a senior linebacker, finished second on the team with 62 tackles, including a team-high 13 for loss.

Eskridge, a junior safety, led SU with 78 tackles and four interceptions, and twice earned ACC Defensive Back of the Week honors.

Smith, a junior running back, led the Orange with 840 yards on 184 carries and 12 total touchdowns.
