Local college athletics: Clarkson’s Grobe receives honor

Stephanie Grobe of Clarkson was named the Liberty League women’s basketball Rookie of the Week on Monday.

Grobe, a 5-foot-10 freshman guard, averaged eight points, seven rebounds and three assists in two games last week. She hit the go-ahead 3-point field goal with the game tied in the final minute to lead the Golden Knights to a 59-55 victory over SUNY Potsdam on Tuesday.

Grobe received the same honor on Nov. 25.

Clarkson’s John Coleman was named to the honor roll for men’s basketball.

n Three SUNY Potsdam women’s hockey players were honored by the ECAC West on Monday at the conclusion of a 3-0 week.

Senior assistant captain Amanda Lucky was named the conference’s Player of the Week, Jordan Ott was selected as the Rookie of the Week and Alexane Rodrigue was named to the honor roll.

Lucky finished the week with four goals and an assist, and scored in each of the Bears’ three victories.
