Mr. Johnson put up a fence in violation of the city fence ordinance. That is a dispute between him and the city.

I have a question about the ordinance. What is the problem with the fence that makes it in violation of an acceptable fence?

It is an open-weave fence that’s not blocking anyone’s view. It is attractive and it abuts the sidewalk on Mr. Johnson’s property.

Within a two-block distance of Mr. Johnson’s property, there are at least four other see-through fences on property abutting the sidewalk. What is the difference?
