MADRID — Freshman Paige McCormick scored 22 points to lead the Heuvelton girls basketball team to a 42-29 victory over Madrid-Waddington in the championship game of the Jessie Chamberlain Memorial Tournament.

McCormick scored six points in the fourth quarter as Heuvelton (2-0 overall) held off a Madrid-Waddington rally which had cut the lead to 28-24.

Tess Knight led the Yellowjackets (1-1) with a 13-point effort.

LISBON 44, EDWARDS-KNOX 30

Maddi Vine scored 13 points to help the Golden Knights defeat the Cougars (0-2) in the consolation game of the Jessie Chamberlain Memorial Tournament.

Jackie Sovie and Beth Crowley both scored 10 points for Lisbon (1-1). Makayla Bartocha led the Cougars with eight points.

CANTON 72, St. LAWRENCE 51

Kali Frank scored 22 points as the Canton defeated St. Lawrence in a Northern Athletic Conference Central Division game in Brasher Falls. It was the opener for both teams.

Natalie DiSalvo scored 15 points for Canton and Tori Daley tossed in 11. Lindsay Thayer led the Larries with 23 points and 14 rebounds, along with five steals. Chelsea Savage scored 13 points.

MALONE 62, OFA 38

Rachel Lamica finished with 21 points as the Huskies defeated the Blue Devils in the Central Division opener for both teams in Malone.

Megan O’Connor added 11 points for Malone. Meg Dodge scored 10 points to pace the Blue Devils.

MASSENA 50, GOUVERNEUR 32

Samantha Villnave scored 25 points as the Red Raiders (1-0) defeated the Wildcats in a Central Division game in Gouverneur. Rebecca Bulsiewcz scored 10 points for the Wildcats (1-1, 0-1).

MORRISTOWN 37, HARRISVILLE 33

Taylor Piercey finished with 15 points as Morristown (2-1, 1-0) edged Harrisville in a West Division game in Harrisville. Emery Matott and Georgi Baker each scored eight points for Harrisville (1-2, 0-1).

NORTHERN ADIRONDACK 48, CHATEAUGAY 39

Rachael Venne led Section 7’s Northern Adirondack with 12 points in a nonleague win in Chateaugay.

Abby Barnes and Danielle Charland each scored 11 points and Hannah Cook scored 10 for the Bulldogs (0-1).

BOYS BASKETBALL

EDWARDs-KNOX 62, HAMMOND 40

Kaden Dandrow nearly outscored the host Red Devils by himself, finishing with 38 points as the Cougars (1-0) won the West Division game in Hammond.

Payton Frisina led Hammond (1-1, 0-1) with 14 points and Zach Cunningham scored 10.

HOCKEY

MASSENA 12, TUPPER LAKE 1

Patrick Manning and Jordan Robert each scored three goals to lead the Red Raiders over the Lumberjacks (0-2) in an interdivision game in Tupper Lake.

Dylan Stone, Devin Paige, Maddox Merry, Ben Sprague, Ryan Thomas and Tyler Young also scored for the Red Raiders (1-0). Elliott Fletcher scored for Tupper Lake.

SALMON RIVER 4, PLATTSBURGH 3 (OT)

Nate Smoke scored 2 minutes, 50 seconds into overtime to give the Shamrocks (1-1) a win over the Hornets in a nonleague game at Fort Covington.

Ty Terrance, Chad George and Sean David also scored for the Shamrocks.

WRESTLING

OFA 78, MALONE 6

The Blue Devils produced four pins in a season-opening win over the Huskies in Ogdensburg.

Josh Roberts (106 pounds), Brody Sheppard (126), Bailey Phelps (154) and Jordan McCormick (195) won by pin for OFA. Jamiel Stapleton won the 160-pound match by pin for the Huskies.
