After reporting a false claim of fraud on his savings account, Thomas Z. Ramsey, 27, of 1217 Faichney Drive, Apt. 5, was charged by state police Monday with second-degree identity theft and filing a false written statement, police said.
According to police, Mr. Ramsey reported that an unauthorized name was added to his savings account and money had been withdrawn without his permission.
Police said it then was discovered that Mr. Ramsey was aware of the additional name on the account and was responsible for the withdrawals.
He was arrested at 5:48 p.m. Monday at 25873 Route 37, Pamelia, and given an appearance ticket returnable to Watertown Town Court.
