CARTHAGE Angela Robbins recorded her 300th career coaching victory as the Carthage volleyball team secured a Frontier League interdivision victory over Lowville on Tuesday.
The Comets won, 25-14, 25-14, 25-16.
Its exciting, and its a relief, said Robbins, who is in her 24th season. The kids played extremely well. I couldnt ask for a better team to give me that 300.
Robbins, a Lowville graduate, was presented with balloons and flowers and sprayed with silly string, which she said was better than being dumped on with Gatorade.
Carly Sullivan handed out nine assists, and Claire Sauter supplied seven assists and six digs. Cassie Birth accounted for five kills, four aces and seven digs, and Marissa Ixtlahuac added five kills and two blocks for Carthage (2-0 overall).
Lindsey Golas hit five kills, and Ashlee Sprowl recorded nine digs for Lowville (1-1).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, INDIAN RIVER 0
Janessa Vaadi generated seven kills and three aces to help power the Spartans to a 25-19, 25-9, 25-19 interdivision victory at Adams.
Katie Elmer scored on five kills and four aces, and Breanna LaFlesh supplied six kills for South Jefferson (2-0).
For the Warriors, Kasey Fuller finished with 27 assists, and Meaghan LaClair supplied six kills and two blocks. Biancca Mendez recorded 18 digs for Indian River (0-2).
WATERTOWN 61, LOWVILLE 38
Malik Evans recorded 16 points and nine rebounds as the host Cyclones pulled away in the second half to beat the Red Raiders in crossover play.
Collin Jorden added 14 points for Watertown (3-1, 2-0).
Kyle Malik scored 19 points for Lowville (0-2).
INDIAN RIVER 34, SOUTH JEFFERSON 18
Danny Angelo registered 13 points and six steals as the Warriors gained a crossover victory in Philadelphia.
Shelton Williams chipped in with nine points for Indian River (2-0).
Bobby Lees scored seven points for South Jefferson (0-1).
CARTHAGE 71, GENERAL BROWN 31
Walter Jeter and Peyton McLaurin scored 16 points apiece and the Comets built a 40-4 halftime lead in their season-opening crossover victory over the Lions in Dexter.
Jeter added nine rebounds and McLaurin provided five assists for Carthage (1-0). Jake Redmore and JaeQuan added nine points apiece.
Cole Johnson and Chris Yarnell each scored six points to lead General Brown (0-2).
SANDY CREEK 74, BEAVER RIVER 53
Matt Ennist scored 16 points and grabbed eight rebounds as the Comets opened up the season with a C Division victory over the Beavers in Beaver Falls.
Zach Halsey scored 13 points and Tyler Swarthout added 12 for Sandy Creek (1-0), which held Beaver River to four points in the third quarter.
Dustin Neddo led all scorers with 19 points for the Beavers (0-1).
SOUTH LEWIS 67, THOUSAND ISLANDS 51
Jason Martin registered 26 points and five assists to guide the Falcons to a season-opening C Division victory at Turin.
Matt Mooney finished with 17 points and 10 rebounds, and Josh Wheeler supplied 16 points and seven rebounds for South Lewis.
For the Vikings, Eli Baldwin provided 15 points. Teddy Ebbing chipped in with 14 points, and Austin Matthews added 10 points for Thousand Islands.
COPENHAGEN 54, BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 25
Antonio Figueroa produced 14 points in the Golden Knights season-opening Frontier League victory over the Panthers at Copenhagen.
Connor Eddy contributed 13 points, and Brandon Moser added 12 points for Copenhagen.
Mathieu Corron scored 14 points for Belleville Henderson.

Eric Chrostowski tallied 17 points, including 11 free throws, as the Patriots opened the season with a D Division rout over the Purple Ghosts in Sackets Harbor.
Josh Keruski hit five 3-pointers for 15 points for Sackets Harbor (1-0), which scored 29 points off of foul shots.
Dylan Delosh collected 12 points for Alexandria (0-1).

Eighth-grader Sierra Neddo scored a game-high 18 points and totaled eight steals to pace the Beavers past the Comets in a C Division game in the season opener for both teams.
Hailie Lehman contributed 13 points for Beaver River (1-0), which allowed only eight points over the first three quarters.
THOUSAND ISLANDS 38, SOUTH LEWIS 17
Ashley Anchor paced the Vikings with a game-high 17 points as they opened the season with a C Division victory over the Falcons in Clayton.
Kerstin Phelps supplied nine points for Thousand Islands.
Brooke Durgan netted eight points for South Lewis.
WATERTOWN 42, LOWVILLE 16
Olivia Miles scored 12 points and added eight rebounds and five assists to lead the Cyclones to a crossover victory over the Red Raiders in Lowville.
Katie Aldrich scored 11 points and Christina Miller finished with six steals for Watertown (2-2, 1-1).
LOWVILLE 66, BEAVER RIVER 22
Collin Stewart and Nathan Munger each captured two races and contributed to the first-place freestyle relays to help power the Red Raiders to a season-opening Frontier League B Division victory at Lowville.
Stewart claimed the 200-yard individual medley and 100 butterfly, and Munger won the 200 and 500 freestyles.
Scott Bingle (100 backstroke), Taran Bush (100 breaststroke), Nicholas Turck (100 free) and Caden Laribee (50 free) each took an individual race and swam on two winning relays for Lowville.
GOUVERNEUR 81, SOUTH LEWIS 71
Adam Wright won the 200 individual medley and 100 breaststroke to help guide the Wildcats to a season-opening Frontier League B Division victory at Gouverneur.
Pat Pominville captured the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke for South Lewis.
SOUTH JEFFERSON 95, CARTHAGE 50
Don Cean and Brendan Cataldo each claimed two races and contributed to a pair of first-place relays during the Spartans season-opening A Division victory over the Comets at Adams.
Cean won the 200 and 500 freestyles, and Cataldo took the 100 butterfly and 100 backstroke for South Jefferson.
