GREAT BEND — Six people were injured and a section of Route 3 near Route 26 was closed after a three-vehicle crash that happened at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday.

According to a member of the Great Bend Fire Department, the crash involved a manure spreader, a sport utility vehicle and a sedan. It was not immediately clear what caused the crash.

A member of the Carthage Area Rescue Squad said four of the injured were taken to local hospitals by ambulance, and two were evacuated by helicopter. More information is expected to be released this morning.

As of 9:15 p.m. Tuesday, the road had not been reopened. Dispatch reports indicated that crews were trying to determine how to clear spilled manure from the roadway.
