FELONY DWI - POTSDAM - Village police charged Lee W. Moody, 33, of Potsdam with felony counts of driving while intoxicated and first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and an unlawful possession of marijuana violation and ticketed him for operation of a vehicle with inadequate plate lamps following a traffic stop at 12:19 a.m. Saturday on Mechanic Street. He reportedly had a blood alcohol content of 0.18 percent, the threshold for elevating a DWI charge to the more serious offense of aggravated DWI. Police said Moody was found to possess a suspended Virginia drivers license and a revoked New York drivers license. A subsequent search of Moody and his vehicle resulted in the discovery of a small plastic baggy containing a small amount of marijuana and a glass marijuana smoking device. He was arraigned in the village of Potsdam Court and released on his own recognizance to appear at a later date.
UNLICENSED OPERATION - POTSDAM - Village police charged Sienna R. Bercume, 16, of Potsdam with unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle at 1:15 p.m. Saturday following an investigation into a report the teenager, who does not have a drivers license, had taken a vehicle that did not belong to her.
SPEEDING - POTSDAM - Village police ticketed Christopher L. McGaw, 17, of Canton for speed in zone, (49/30 mph zone) at 11:01 p.m. Saturday following a traffic stop on Sandstone Drive.

Patrols responded and spoke with a tenant at the apartment building.It was determined that the firearm was accidentally discharged when it was being removed from its carrying case. The shot penetrated the drywall of the apartment ceiling but does not appear to have entered the apartment above it. Charges are pending.
