GRAND FORKS, N.D. — Connor Gaarder tallied a goal and an assist and goalie Zane Gothberg made 25 saves as North Dakota downed St. Lawrence University, 3-2, on Saturday night in a nonconference men’s hockey game at Ralph Engelstad Arena.

North Dakota (5-7-2) gained a split of the two-game set after St. Lawrence prevailed 5-2 on Friday night.

Greg Carey and Gunnar Hughes each scored a goal for the Saints (8-6-2), including Carey’s goal 5 minutes, 37 seconds into the third period to pull St. Lawrence within 3-2.

Carey, who recorded a four-point night goal on Friday with a goal and two assists, ran his scoring streak to 11 games.

Stephane Pattyn and Rocco Grimaldi tallied a goal each for North Dakota, which led 3-1 through two periods.

Matt Weninger stopped 21 of 24 shots for St. Lawrence.
