DEXTER Tyrell Thomas hit a 3-point field goal with 30 seconds left in overtime for the winning points as Watertown opened its boys basketball season with a 44-42 Frontier League crossover win over host General Brown on Tuesday.
Thomas finished with 12 points for the Cyclones, who were led by junior guard Isiah Dincol with 19 points. Noah Taylor also grabbed 12 rebounds for WHS.
Cole Johnson and Rob Pickeral each scored nine points for the Lions.
INDIAN RIVER 65, LOWVILLE 30
Devin White contributed 19 points and six steals as the Warriors earned a season-opening crossover victory in Philadelphia.
Carlos Gutierrez added 12 points and Danny Angelo chipped in with 10 for Indian River (1-0).
Brian OConnor paced Lowville (0-1) with 15 points.
BELLEVILLE HENDERSON 47, LAFARGEVILLE 45
Tom Desormeau scored 11 points and grabbed seven rebounds as the host Panthers held on for a season-opening D Division win at Belleville.
Mathieu Corron had 10 points and 14 rebounds for Belleville Henderson, which led by 12 points after three quarters. Colton Ramsdell added 10 points and seven rebounds and Alan Disbro played a fine floor game with four rebounds, five steals and three assists.
Dan Leek paced the Red Knights with 17 points.
CARTHAGE 49, IMMACULATE HEART 34
Lexi Smith scored a game-high 18 points as the Comets opened the season with a Frontier League A Division victory over the Cavaliers at Immaculate Heart Central.
Carthage was outscored by two field goals, but dominated at the foul line against IHC, 22-4. Kendra Bates contributed 10 rebounds and five steals, and Hannah Millich had six steals and three assists for Carthage.
Anna Garabrant led IHC with 12 points.
GENERAL BROWN 46, WATERTOWN 34
Rhea Pitkins 19 points led the Lions to a season-opening crossover victory over the host Cyclones.
Katie Pitkin contributed 12 points and seven rebounds for General Brown (1-0).
Olivia Miles led Watertown (0-1) with 14 points.
INDIAN RIVER 72, LOWVILLE 23
Sarah Mattingly generated a triple-double of 14 points, 13 steals and 10 assists as the Warriors opened the season with a crossover win over the Red Raiders in Lowville.
Kammika Barnes added 13 points for Indian River (1-0), which made 31 steals. Emma St.Croix scored 15 points for Lowville (0-1).
SOUTH JEFFERSON 3, WATERTOWN 2
Janessa Vaadi finished with 20 kills and three blocks to help fuel the Spartans to a season-opening Frontier League interdivision victory at Adams.
Ellie Brooks handed out 26 assists, and Breanna LaFlesh and Katie Elmer each recorded nine kills for South Jefferson.
For the Cyclones, Maggie Finster accounted for 23 assists, four kills and two aces, and Kaety Hanlin supplied 18 points, eight aces and 19 digs. Stacia Wallace chipped in nine kills, three aces and 17 digs. Haley Hamm provided 12 points, five kills and five aces.
CARTHAGE 3, GENERAL BROWN 0
Carly Sullivan registered 17 service points, four aces and nine assists to help power the Comets to a season-opening interdivision victory at Dexter.
Doria Darroch contributed five kills, and Cassie Birth added six points for Carthage. Hannah Peters finished with five digs for General Brown.
