MASSENA — The Massena Shrine club’s Ups and Downs bicycle parade unit has received a $7,000 donation from the Massena Elks Lodge and presented the money to the Montreal Shriners Hospital for Children.

The check was presented to Paul E. Frank, chairman of the board of governors of Shriners Hospital for Children-Canada on Oct. 17.

The unit participated in parades in Sackets Harbor, Tupper Lake, Norwood and Massena, among other locations, on behalf of the Shriners Hospitals for Children.

Massena Shrine member Philip J. McDonald said the club received a lot of assistance from businesses in town, including Frenchie’s Chevrolet, Corky’s Collision and Jenack’s Canvas.

The Shrine’s sole focus, according to Mr. McDonald, is to promote the children’s hospitals and raise money for them.
