AMHERST, Mass. — Amherst College scored 1 minute, 5 seconds into the second overtime period to thwart a St. Lawrence University comeback bid this afternoon and prevail 2-1, ending the Saints’ season in the third round of the NCAA Division III men’s soccer tournament.

St. Lawrence (17-3-2) scored with 45 seconds left in regulation on a goal by Austin Roney to force overtime. Amherst (18-0-2) had broken a scoreless tie with a goal by Greg Singer early in the second half.
