FELTS MILLS Jefferson County Sheriffs investigators are working on leads in hopes of solving the home invasion that occurred early Saturday morning at 27468 Route 3 in LeRay.
The burglars stole a 2005 Jeep Cherokee that was later found abandoned about four miles away on Cemetery Road. The Jeeps owner, Catherine F. Ferran, hid inside a closet of her home during the burglary and was not injured. A 17-inch television was the only item stolen other than the vehicle.
The burglars also may have broken into a motor home and garage at a residence across the street before stealing the Jeep. Cases of beer were taken from the garage.
On Monday, Detective Judy G. Goodman would not say whether investigators had any suspects in the two break-ins. Over the weekend, a sheriffs deputy said investigators collected DNA and fingerprint evidence at the scene.
The sheriffs department is asking that anyone with information contact the department at 786-2601.
