WASHINGTON U.S. Rep. William L. Owens, D-Plattsburgh, wants to enhance the trade relationship between the U.S. and Canada.
Mr. Owens led a panel discussion Thursday hosted by the Congressional Northern Border Caucus, which he co-chairs with Rep. Kevin Cramer, R-N.D.
The panel focused on regulatory reforms that would enhance the job-creating trade relationship between the U.S. and Canada, according to a news release from Mr. Owenss office.
Rob Merrifield, member of the Canadian Parliament; Amgad Shehata, vice president of international public affairs for UPS; Adam Salerno, senior director of national security and emergency preparedness for the U.S. Chamber of Commerce, and Dave Britton, owner of a North Dakota-based trucking company, were all in attendance.
Streamlining border regulations and reforming antiquated visa laws were a major theme of the discussion, according to the release.
