CANTON — The St. Lawrence University men’s soccer team used a five-goal first half and went on to rout Wheaton (Mass.) 8-0 in a second-round game of the NCAA Division III Tournament Sunday at Sandy MacAllaster Field.

SLU (17-2-2), ranked No. 15, will likely travel to No. 5 Amherst next weekend for a Sweet 16 game, and it is two wins away from making the third final four in school history. The Saints won the national title in 1999.

Ryan Grant led SLU’s offense with three goals. Andrew Bednarsky scored the first two goals of the game. Rob Brandell, Noah Bunton and Sars Bowman also tallied goals.
