As one who has advised our government on health care reform since 1976, I agree with the op-ed piece by GOP House candidate Elise Stefanik: We deserve better than ObamaCare and her five things to make the Affordable Care Act better. If she promises to make ObamaCare better, she will get my vote.
Stefanik and I both support a reduction in fraud/waste, tort reform, tax advantaged premiums for individuals, state-run high risk pools (aka Medicaid) and nationwide insurance programs (aka Medicare).
Unfortunately, it is sad that the GOP House was/is so obsessed with stopping and/or repealing ObamaCare that, rather than improving the Romney-inspired plan, it failed to support any of Stefaniks proposals as part of ObamaCare.
Stefanik continues: Her company, Premium Plywood, will be given more expensive options with less coverage to choose from. Actually, there will be more coverage for the employee and family like guaranteed enrollment and insurability, kids included until age 26, no yearly or lifetime max-outs, maternity benefits and a raft of other coverages an employees family may or may not need. Coverage just like Stefanik will have if she is elected to Congress.
Stefanik should show us her current corporate choices and costs for health insurance and then let us see if we find her and her employees better coverage at similar cost under ObamaCare. Ill bet her my vote we can.
