The OFA Girls Varsity Soccer team posted only two wins in a very tough NAC Central Division this fall.
But according to Coach Al Rishe Jr. a lack of effort, hustle and improvement was not the reason.
I was proud of the team for toughing it out against some very skilled teams in Section X this year, said Rishe.
I was approached by the other coaches from Section X who informed me that they had really seen improvement in our team.
Coach Rishe recognized the efforts and improvement of his team on Tuesday evening at an Awards Banquet at the Ogdensburg Elks Lodge.
Rishe recognized two seniors in Brooke Badlam and Kayla Tolman with Section X soccer balls signed by their teammates as a remembrance.
Badlam was injured all season but led her team each game with support and an enthusiastic cheer. Tolman was cited for being a very flexible player on the field.
Sweeper Courtney Sherwin was recognized by the NAC Central coaches as a Second Team all conference player and by OFA Athletic Department as the Devils Outstanding Defensive Player. Alicia Shaver recognized as the Most Improved Player and Kaylee LOrange was recognized with the teams NAC Outstanding Sportmanship Award and also by OFA with the Blue Devil Pride plaque.
Earning NAC All-Academic Awards for their achievements in the classroom were: Riley Luckie, Kali Downey, Janell Cordwell, Brooke Badlam, Danielle Guimond, Courtney Sherwin,Samantha Rishe, Mollee Ahrens and Ashleigh Sovie.
