Last week marked national Nontraditional Student Week. This was a national celebration to honor adult students.
During this week we take the time to recognize those individuals who are courageous enough to step out of their comfort zone and enroll in college, either for the first time or as a returning student.
Completing a degree often involves overcoming many hurdles. Life changes, learning new technology and balancing home, work and school can often sidetrack a student. In the end, however, the reward is great.
Our alumni are members of our local communities, starting small businesses, working for local companies, running for elective office and volunteering for charitable organizations. And most stay in the region after graduating and continue to contribute to their local communities. We celebrate you, the nontraditional student, and congratulate you on all of your successes.
