GENEVA Hobart rushed for 238 yards and cruised past the St. Lawrence University football team 37-7 to clinch the Liberty League championship Saturday.
The Statesmen (8-0 overall, 6-0 conference) built a 10-0 lead by the end of the first quarter and led 24-7 by halftime.
Steven Webb led Hobart with 90 yards rushing on 18 carries, including two touchdowns. Patrick Conlan threw for 140 yards, including two touchdowns and Connor Garrett returned a punt 20 yards for a touchdown.
The only touchdown for the Saints (6-3, 4-2) came on a 6-yard pass from Zane Fish to Mitch Gallagher in the second quarter.
ST. LAWRENCE 3, SKIDMORE 1
Andrew Bednarsky scored the game-winning goal in the 65th minute as the Saints (15-2-2) won their fifth Liberty League Tournament title in the 10 years with a victory over Skidmore in Canton.
SLU will head into the NCAA Division III Tournament for the 18th time next weekend. The Saints won the national title in 1999.
SLU took a 1-0 lead in the ninth minute on a goal from Jamal Samaroo, but Skidmore (12-6-2) answered with a goal from Nick Masiero in the 38th minute.
Morgan Smith ended the scoring for SLU in the 87th minute.
ST. LAWRENCE 4, DARTMOUTH 1
Alex Moore scored twice and St. Lawrence (5-7, 4-2) tallied three goals in the first period in an ECAC Hockey win over Dartmouth at Appleton Arena.
Kayla Raniwsky and Jessica Hon also scored for SLU. Mackenzie St. Onge scored for Dartmouth (1-6, 1-5).
HARVARD 2, CLARKSON 0
Emerance Maschmeyer made 36 saves to lead the Crimson past the Golden Knights (8-3-2, 3-2-1) in an ECAC Hockey game at Cheel Arena.
Mary Parker scored both goals for Harvard (5-1).
SUNY POTSDAM 3, SUNY OSWEGO 2
Jordan Ott scored twice in the first period to get the Bears started on their way to an ECAC West win over the Lakers (2-1, 0-1) in Potsdam.
Izzy Fayerman scored the final goal for SUNY Potsdam (2-1, 1-1). Kendall Appelbaum and Bridget Hamlin scored for the Lakers.
SUNY CANTON 3, SUNY CORTLAND 0
Shayna Dominique made 37 saves to lead the Kangaroos past the Red Dragons (1-2-1) in a nonconference game in Canton.
Karley Cree scored two goals to lead the Kangaroos (1-2-1) and assisted on a goal from Rhea Coad.
SUNY GENESEO 4, SUNY POTSDAM 1
Tyler Brickler scored twice to help SUNY Geneseo (3-1) defeat SUNY Potsdam in a SUNYAC game in Potsdam.
Ryan Stanimir also scored for SUNY Geneseo. Jake Rivera scored for the Bears (0-4, 0-3).
CLARKSON 3, UNION 0
Xiao Liang finished with nine kills and was named the tournaments Most Valuable Player as Clarkson produced a 25-13, 25-8, 25-12 sweep of Union in the championship match of the Liberty League Tournament in Potsdam.
Aishvina Arasu and Victoria Kirkemo each produced 12 kills for Clarkson (33-6), which earned an NCAA Division III Tournament bid. Lani Durio added 38 assists for the Golden Knights.
HERKIMER COUNTY CC 86, JEFFERSON CC 73
Enson Garcias 21 points helped the Generals (1-1) to a Region 3 win over the host Cannoneers.
Dustin Pond scored 19 points and Damien Jackson supplied 16 points and 10 rebounds for Jefferson Community College (1-2).
JEFFERSON CC 64, HERKIMER COUNTY CC 47
Jasmine Canady generated 17 points and nine assists as the host Cannoneers defeated the Generals in a Region 3 game.
Alyssa Crosby chipped in with 14 points and 12 rebounds for Jefferson Community College (3-0).
Former Canton standout Emily Rexford led Herkimer with nine points (1-2).
SWIMMING AND DIVING
SLU WOMEN WIN
Alanna Blackburn, Olivia Rettstatt and Elizabeth Canne each won two events to lead the SLU women to a 133-108 win over RIT in Canton. RIT beat the SLU men 137-88.
Blackburn won the 50-meter freestyle and the 100 freestyle. Rettstatt won the 1,000 and 500 freestyles, and Canne won the 400 individual medley and 200 breaststroke.
BEARS SPLIT IN NORWICH
Victoria Blakeslee won the 200-meter individual medley and 1,000 freestyle to lead SUNY Potsdams women to a 109-47 victory at Norwich.
Norwich defeated the SUNY Potsdam men 132-87. Richard Zimmerman led the Bears with wins in the 100 backstroke as well as the 500 and 1,000 freestyles. Daniel Costa won the 50 and 100 freestyles.
CLARKSON FALLS TO SUNY OSWEGO
Al Catano won the 100-meter freestyle as well as the 200 freestyle, but Clarksons men fell 127-110 to SUNY Oswego in Potsdam. SUNY Oswego also won the womens meet 112-68.
