OGDENSBURG The annual Community Thanksgiving Dinner hosted by the Knights of Columbus is in desperate need of donations after a particularly large donor relocated from the area.
Harry L. Lucchetti, chairperson of the event, said the meal typically costs between $3,000 and $3,500 each year for the Knights to pull off.
We supply a supper for about 600 people, Mr. Lucchetti said.
Last years meal saw roughly 70 turkeys prepared in addition to mashed potatoes, vegetables and other side dishes.
But this year, the Knights are looking to fill a $1,200 funding gap after one donor left the north country, Mr. Lucchetti said.
The event, which is entirely community funded, is free to attend and has been a staple in Ogdensburg for more than 20 years.
Anyone looking to make a donation to the Knights for the meal should contact them at 393-7990 or mail a donation to the Knights of Columbus, Msgr. A.D. Charbonneau, Council 258, 721 Hasbrouck St., attention Chairperson Harry Lucchetti.
