DEKALB JUNCTION — Bridget Rust scored twice in the first half to help the sixth-seeded Hermon-DeKalb girls soccer team defeat No. 11 Morristown, 5-0, in a Section 10 Class D first-round game Tuesday.

The Demons (10-5-1 overall) will meet No. 3 Parishville-Hopkinton at 5 p.m. Friday in a quarterfinal at Massena High School.

Kasey O’Donnell scored twice in the second half for the Demons, and Rhys Bryant also scored. Chelsey MacKay made three saves to shut out the Green Rockets (2-11-2).

COLTON-PIERREPONT 2, HARRISVILLE 0

Morgan Doyle scored one goal and assisted on the other as the No. 7 Colts defeated No. 10 Harrisville (3-12-2) in a Class D first-round game at South Colton.

Colton-Pierrepont (7-8-2) will meet No. 2 Heuvelton in a quarterfinal at 6:45 p.m. Friday at Massena High School.

Madison Gregg also scored for the Colts, and Kathryn Miller made one save.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 3, EDWARDS-KNOX 0

Ariana Ramsey made four saves as the No. 8 Yellowjackets defeated No. 9 Edwards-Knox (5-10) in a Class D first-round game in Madrid.

Madrid-Waddington (6-7-2) will meet No. 1 Chateaugay in a quarterfinal game at 6:45 p.m. Friday at SUNY Canton.

Mary Young scored two goals and assisted on another by Desiree Pryce to lead Madrid-Waddington.

HAMMOND 11, ST. REGIS FALLS 1

The No. 5 Red Devils defeated St. Regis Falls (0-16) in a Class D first-round game in Hammond.

Hammond (12-4) will face No. 4 Lisbon in the quarterfinals at 5 p.m. Friday at SUNY Canton.

ST. LAWRENCE 1, TUPPER LAKE 0

Breanna Evans scored in the 45th minute to help No. 3 St. Lawrence Central upset No. 2 Tupper Lake (6-10-1) in a Class C semifinal in Tupper Lake.

St. Lawrence Central (4-12-1) will face top-seeded Brushton-Moira for the championship at 1:30 p.m. Saturday at SUNY Canton.

Haleigh Agans made seven saves for the shutout.

BRUSHTON-MOIRA 4, NORWOOD-NORFOLk 0

Jenna Dufrane played a part in all four goals as the Panthers shut out No. 4 Norwood-Norfolk (1-15) in a Class C semifinal in Brushton.

Dufrane scored the opening goal for the Panthers (9-3-4) and then assisted on goals from Kendra Mills, Kenzie Traynor and Madison Rowe.

Ashley DeBeer made nine saves for the shutout.

BOYS SOCCER

GOUVERNEUR 1, SALMON RIVER 0

Fifth-seeded Gouverneur chose an opportune time to win its first game of the season, upsetting No. 4 Salmon River (6-11) in a Class B first-round game in Fort Covington.

Gouverneur (1-15-1) will travel to meet top-seeded Ogdensburg Free Academy in a semifinal at 3 p.m. Friday.

Jase Briggs scored in the 38th minute for the Wildcats off a pass from Curt LaPlante. Tom Andrews made 18 saves for the shutout.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

PIERCE LEADS CANTON TO TITLE

Laura Pierce had the best time of any class at the Section 10 championship meet, winning the girls Class C race in 19 minutes, 11 seconds as Canton claimed the team title at Fort Covington.

Canton’s girls finished with 15 points, and Gouverneur was second with 64.

Malone ran unopposed in the Class B race and Carrie Pomainville finished first.

Kaycie Saucier finished first to lead Norwood-Norfolk past Brushton-Moira 15-46 in the Class D race.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

ERDMAN FIRST FOR GOUVERNEUR

Jacob Erdman had the top time overall for the boys, leading Gouverneur to the Class C title in Fort Covington.

Erdman finished in 17 minutes, 7 seconds, and Gouverneur finished with 22 points. OFA was second with 57.

Malone ran unopposed in the Class B race and Mitch Marlow finished first for the Huskies.

Kyle Fulk led Norwood-Norfolk to a Class C title with a first-place finish. The Flyers defeated Tupper Lake 21-35.

SWIMMING

MASSENA 54, ST. LAWRENCE 40

Two first-place finishes from Baylee Carroll helped Massena defeat the Larries (6-5) in an Northern Athletic Conference meet in Brasher Falls.

Carroll won the 50-yard freestyle and claimed the 100 freestyle for Massena (10-2).

POTSDAM 96, EDWARDs-KNOX 73

Emma Kroll won two events to help Potsdam defeat the Cougars (2-8) in Russell.

Kroll finished first in the 200 individual medley and the 100 freestyle for the Sandstoners (7-4).
