SHERBURNE Sophomore Travis Anderson scored on runs of 2 and 4 yards and Miles Kearns ran back an interception 60 yards for a score, all in the first half, as No. 7 Thousands Islands stunned second-seed Sherburne-Earlville, 23-12, in a Section 3 Class C quarterfinal on Friday night.
Thousand Islands, which built a 21-0 halftime lead, will take on No. 3 Immaculate Heart Central in the semifinals at a time and place to be determined next weekend. The Cavaliers beat the Vikings 26-0 on Sept. 6 to open the season.
Austin Jasper provided both touchdowns for the Marauders (7-1), a run of 5 yards and a 40-yard pass from Cody Marango.
GENERAL BROWN 14, FRANKFORT-SCHUYLER 12
Zech Pitre scored on a pair of 1-yard touchdown runs as the No. 5 Lions outlasted the fourth-seeded Maroon Knights in a Class C quarterfinal in Frankfort.
Ryan Cumberbatch knocked down a Joe DeSarro 2-point conversion attempt for Frankfort-Schuyler (5-3) that would have tied the game with three minutes to play.
General Brown (7-1) will face No. 8 Utica Notre Dame in a Class C semifinal at a date and time yet to be determined. The Jugglers knocked off top seed Syracuse Institute of Technology, 32-28.
Pitre rushed 22 times for 87 yards, while Joe Pitre had 15 carries for 65 yards.
CARTHAGE 42, NOTTINGHAM 6
Josh Capers finished with 133 yards rushing on nine carries and scored three touchdowns to help power the No. 3 Comets to a Class A quarterfinal win over the No. 6 Bulldogs at Carthage.
Carthage (7-1) advances to play No. 2 East Syracuse-Minoa in the semifinals. ES-M defeated No. 7 New Hartford, 50-14.
Capers scored on runs of 45, 33 and 6 yards. Quarterback Bailey Wilkinson ran 78 yards for a touchdown and threw an 18-yard TD pass to Dylan James. Roderick Groce added a 40-yard TD run.
Brendan Endrina led the Comets defense, according to Carthage coach Sam Millich, and Malik Little recorded an interception.
Quarterback Sterling Lowry connected with Tayquon Hightower for a 27-yard touchdown pass for Nottingham (2-6).
INDIAN RIVER 44, FULTON 17
Sophomore Dustin Sharritt rushed for 155 yards on 10 carries and scored three touchdowns as the top-seeded Warriors routed the No. 8 Red Raiders (1-7) in a Class A quarterfinal at Watertown High School.
Indian River (7-1) plays No. 4 Jamesville-DeWitt, a 14-0 winner over Whitesboro, in the semifinals.
Sharritt scored on runs of 23 and 60 yards in the first quarter, and from 15 yards out in the second quarter.
Quarterback Denzel Barnes added a 1-yard TD run, Deondre Grier scored on a 17-yard run ,and Barnes passed to Elijah Franklin for a 45-yard touchdown for the Warriors.
BEAVER RIVER 42, SAUQUOIT VALLEY 32
Kyle Steiner went 12 of 21 for 255 yards and four touchdowns passing, and ran 18 times for 139 yards, including an 84-yard TD run, as the Beavers beat the Indians in a crossover game in Sauquoit.
Steiner hit Erik Lyndaker with scores of 17 and 77 yards and added a 17-yard TD pass to Kaelyn Ferguson and a 25-yard scoring pass to Daniel Erker. Lyndaker caught three passes for 129 yards and scored a 25-yard run for Beaver River (4-4).
Jason Simon accounted for four touchdowns for Sauquoit Valley (3-5).
POTSDAM 46, ST. LAWRENCE 18
The top-seeded Sandstoners (8-0) scored 24 points in the third quarter to blow open a 14-6 halftime lead and defeat No. 4 St. Lawrence Central in a Section 10 Class C semifinal in Potsdam.
Potsdam will host No. 2 Ogdensburg Free Academy in next weekends title game.
Oden Robertson led Potsdam with 204 yards rushing on 20 carries. He scored four touchdowns, including two on runs of 37 and 48 yards. He also caught a 45-yard touchdown pass.
David Plante rushed for 167 yards to lead the Larries (1-7).
OFA 48, CANTON 0
Josh Liebtein rushed for 71 yards and was 8-for-8 passing for 120 yards as No. 2 Ogdensburg Free Academy (7-1) beat No. 3 Canton in a Class C semifinal in Ogdensburg. Hunter Yerdon passed for 70 yards for Canton (1-7).
TUPPER LAKE 34, GOUVERNEUR 7
Jeremy Roussel rushed for 120 yards as the Lumberjacks topped Gouverneur (1-7) in a nonleague contest in Tupper Lake.
Mitch Keniston returned a punt 52 yards for a touchdown and caught three passes for 47 yards for the Lumberjacks (4-4).
