CANTON - In honor of October’s National Disability Employment Awareness Month, St. Lawrence NYSARC (www.slnysarc.org), announced that Robin Costigan was awarded the distinction of “Joslin Outstanding Performer” from the New York State Industries for the Disabled, Inc. (NYSID.)

Costigan works on NYSID Preferred Source contracts as an employee of St. Lawrence NYSARC working at enclave at the Department of Social Services. She is one of 59 New Yorkers with disabilities being acknowledged for consistent, impressive performance.

NYSID is a not-for-profit organization with over 30 years of experience meeting the purchasing needs of government agencies while advancing employment for New Yorkers with disabilities.

“Robin is a very dedicated individual who is always seeking to improve herself,” said John Morrison, director of Seaway Industries. “She is an asset to St. Lawrence NYSARC and is greatly appreciated by staff and fellow employees.”

This recognition comes in conjunction with October’s National Disability Awareness Month, a federally mandated designation that calls attention to the issues people with disabilities face, including improving employment opportunities, accommodation, transportation, and expanding services.

St. Lawrence NYSARC considers it a priority to help employers realize that people with disabilities are a vital part of the workforce. Through Seaway Industries and Career Opportunities, the agency offers employment services that include job training, coaching, job development, and benefits management.
