Pat Gefell scored off of a Chris Rowland direct kick with 44 seconds remaining in the first overtime period to the give second-seeded Immaculate Heart Central boys soccer team a 2-1 overtime victory over No. 15 McGraw on Wednesday in a Section 3 Class D first-round game at IHC.

Matt Guyette opened the scoring in the 17th minute and Jarrod Smith collected six saves for the Cavaliers (12-3-1 overall), who face seventh-seeded Brookfield at a time and place to be determined.

Jordan Cowen scored in the 63rd minute to send the game into overtime and Ryan White stopped 15 shots for the Eagles (7-9-2).

COPENHAGEN 6, MADISON 1

Antonio Figueroa scored a pair of goals to spark the third-seeded and unbeaten Golden Knights past the 14th-seeded Blue Devils in a Class D first-round game at Copenhagen.

Brenden Jacobs registered three assists for Copenhagen (17-0), which advances to face No. 6-seeded Blessed Virgin Mary in a quarterfinal on either Friday or Saturday at a time to be announced.

Brandon Buckley (three saves) and Robbie Groff (six saves) shared goalkeeping duties for the Golden Knights.

Travis Clarke scored a goal for Copenhagen, as did Greg Kunert, Garrett Munden and Cody Buckley.

BROOKFIELD 3, SACKETS HARBOR 2

Jake Cowen scored twice as seventh-seeded Beavers (12-2-1) outlasted the No. 10 Patriots in a Class D first round contest at Brookfield.

Ryan Allen tallied both goals for Sackets Harbor (9-6-0).

BLESSED VIRGIN MARY 4, ALEXANDRIA 2

Benedict Fullerton and Carmen Futchi scored two goals apiece as the sixth-seeded Saints (14-1-2) beat the Purple Ghosts in a Class D first round game in Syracuse.

Nik Shangraw and Kyle Gionet scored for No. 11 Alexandria (8-8).

THOUSAND ISLANDS 3, HERKIMER 0

Tiger Chapman scored with two minutes left in the first half and the ninth-seeded Vikings cruised to a Class C first-round victory over the No. 8 Magicians (6-10-1) in Herkimer.

Tanner Docteur scored in the 48th minute and Zach Mason added a goal in the 57th minute for Thousand Islands (9-7), which will play at top-seeded Fabius-Pompey in 6 p.m. Friday in a quarterfinal.

Goalie Sam Ada made two saves for the Vikings.

SKANEATELES 2, LOWVILLE 0

Jack Bailey tallied a goal and an assist to spark the seventh-seeded Lakers past the 10th-seeded Red Raiders in a first round Class B game at Skaneateles.

Tyler Strods also scored a goal for Skaneateles (10-7) and goalie Billy Patrick finished with two saves in recording the shutout.

Darren Ortlieb was credited with 17 saves for Lowville (7-9-1).

LYME GAME RESCHEDULED

The eighth-seeded Lyme boys soccer team’s first-round match against ninth-seeded Old Forge has been rescheduled to 3 p.m. today due to field conditions, and the game will be played at Watertown High School.

The game, originally scheduled for Monday at Lyme, was postponed the first time after Old Forge failed to show up for the game.

GIRLS

WHITESBORO 2, WATERTOWN 1

Natalie Kozlowski scored after she assisted on Mariah Williams’s tying goal as the fourth-seeded Warriors edged the fifth-seeded Cyclones in a Class A quarterfinal at Whitesboro.

Olivia Miles scored in the first minute, and Katie Aldrich finished with 15 saves for Watertown (8-5-4).

Emilie Mull made six saves, including stopping a breakaway bid with five minutes remaining, for Whitesboro (9-4-4).
