LOWVILLE — Darien Frederick of Thousand Islands scored 327.75 points to place second in the “B” Division during the Frontier League diving championships Saturday.

Results from the diving event will be combined with next weekend’s swimming competition to determine the league champions for each division.

Defending champion Catherine Borgstrom of Cooperstown captured the “B” Division title with a score of 343.15. Megan Denise was third for Lowville, and Cooperstown’s Lucy Ford took fourth place.

In the “A” Division, Natalie Wicks of Indian River was the top local diver with a second-place score of 294.15 points. Andrea Marfone (330.10 points) took first place for Holland Patent, while her teammate Nicole Ball was third.

GIRLS TENNIS

DINES CONCLUDES SEASON

Therese Dines of Lowville ended her season during the Section 3 interclass tournament at Skytop Courts in Syracuse.

Dines defeated Emma Renzi of Immaculate Heart Central, 7-5, 3-6, 6-4, in the first round. In the second round, Dines lost to Kyrin Pollock of Jamesville-DeWitt, 6-0, 6-1.

GIRLS CROSS COUNTRY

MILLER PACES SPARTANS TO 4TH

Jackie Miller placed seventh out of 96 runners to help lead South Jefferson to fourth place during the varsity seeded race at the Marathon Invitational.

South Jefferson tallied 138 points, while Mount Saint Dominic Academy scored 45 points for the team title. Laura Leff of West Genesee was the first-place runner.

Skylar Pastor finished 15th, while Amanda Lloyd was 33rd and Ellie Brooks 49th.

BOYS CROSS COUNTRY

CEAN GUIDES SPARTANS

Don Cean crossed the finish line 24th out of 201 runners to help South Jefferson to seventh place in the varsity unseeded race at the Marathon Invitational.

South Jefferson scored 263 points, while Ithaca easily captured the team title with 60 points. Jason Jenks of Groton won the race.

Nate Tyler finished 26th, and Morgan Deleel was 45th for South Jefferson.

GIRLS SOCCER

LOWVILLE 5, SANDY CREEK 0

Kelsey Sammon assisted on the game’s first three goals and then scored in the second half as the Red Raiders secured a Frontier League crossover victory at Lowville.

Selena Beller, McKenzie Marti and Chelsea Hoffman each scored. Alexis Bach made four saves for Lowville (13-3).

Kylee Martin made 12 saves for Sandy Creek (6-6-2).

FOOTBALL

CENTRAL VALLEY 50, SOUTH JEFFERSON 34

Friday night in Adams, Adam Hutchinson passed for 175 yards and two touchdowns, but it wasn’t enough as South Jefferson fell to Central Valley Academy in a Section 3 Class B East game.

Hutchinson hit Dylan Beckstead on a 27-yard TD pass and Austin Robare with an 8-yard touchdown throw. Beckstead rushed 19 times for 118 yards, while Hutchinson, Brandon Dibble and Alex Sharlow scored rushing touchdowns for the Spartans (1-6, 1-5).

Mykel Farley ran for four touchdowns for Central Valley Academy (3-4, 2-4).
